Jack Poole graduated from the University of Maryland in 1986 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Fire Protection Engineering. Mr. Poole is a Principal at Poole Fire Protection located in Olathe, Kansas. Mr. Poole is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Fire Protection, licensed in 49 states and 3 territories and his expertise includes designing fire suppression and detection systems. He has designed hundreds of fire suppression and fire alarm & detection systems for public and private clients all around the world.
He was a volunteer firefighter and Fire Marshal for South Johnson County Fire Department, is a Past President of the American Backflow Prevention Association, serves as the Secretary-Treasurer on the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) Board of Directors, is an SFPE Fellow, serves on several NFPA Technical Committees, is Chairman of NFPA 520 and SIG-PRO of NFPA 72, serves on the Curriculum Advisory Committee and is the Chairman of the Board of Visitors for the University of Maryland Fire Protection Engineering Department and the Oklahoma State Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology Advisory Board. Jack also serves on the University of Maryland A. James Clark School of Engineering Board of Visitors.
Mr. Poole received the Glenn L. Martin Metal from the University of Maryland in 2014 and was honored as a Distinguished Alumni from the Department of Fire Protection Engineering in June 2015. He is married to his wife and business partner Laura and has two children, Drew – 28 and Stephanie – 23. Drew has completed his B.S. Fire Protection, M. Eng. Fire Protection and M.S. Engineering Management, all from the University of Maryland. Stephanie has completed her B.S. in Fire Protection Engineering degree from the University of Maryland and is currently completing her M. Eng. In Fire Protection Engineering.
