SFPE Position Statements

SFPE Public Policy Task Group

The purpose of the SFPE Public Policy Task Group is to evaluate public policy issues that are important to the Society Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) and the fire protection engineering profession and make recommendations to the SFPE Board of Directors in regards to these issues.

Official SFPE Position Statements

The following position statements have been adopted by the SFPE Board of Directors:

Other Public Policy Positions

At times the SFPE Board of Directors will endorse legislation related to fire protection engineering public policy or policy proposals from other fire service organizations that request the Society’s endorsement. The following have been endorsed by SFPE:

• Recommended Practices for Design Professionals Engaged as Experts in the Resolution of Construction Industry Disputes (March, 2011)
• Campus Fire Safety Right to Know Act (April, 2007) 
• International Residential Code Fire Sprinkler Coalition (March, 2007)
