Tour of the University of Edinburgh Fire Research Center

Join us for an insightful and engaging technical tour of the University of Edinburgh Fire Research Center. This event is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the cutting-edge research and demonstrations conducted at the facility.

The lab tour is generously supported by the University. Lunch at the Nucleus Foyer and transportation are sponsored by SFPE and The Protectowire Company.

Planned Tour Agenda

  • 1150: Bus arrives at main entrance of the conference hotel, Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa
  • 1205: Departure 
  • 1230-1300: Enjoy a lunch on campus 
  • 1300-1305: Welcome and introduction to the day's activities. 
  • 1305-1345: Participants will be divided into two groups: Group 1: Attend a 45-minute lecture in the campus theatre, focusing on the research group's ongoing projects and an overview of the upcoming lab demonstrations. Group 2: Visit the fire testing laboratory for hands-on demonstrations, including the trench effect, cladding, and timber-lined compartments. 
  • 1345-1430: Groups will swap, allowing everyone to experience both the lecture and the lab visit. 
  • 1430: Discussion and Q&A session
  • 1445: Departure 
  • 1500: Arrival to Sheraton Grand
