Support Your SFPE Foundation

Dear SFPE members,

As the newly appointed chair of the Board of Governors of the SFPE Foundation, I would like to offer Season’s Greetings to all of you. The Board of Governors is planning to revitalize the SFPE Foundation in 2017, and we look forward to sharing our plans with you as they develop next year. The mission of the SFPE Foundation is to advance the science and practice of fire protection engineering internationally by advocating and supporting engineering research, technology transfer and education. We would like to pursue this mission more vigorously by supporting education and research, and we need your support to do so.

As we approach the end of 2016, it is that time of year when we think about making tax-deductible donations to worthy causes. I would like to encourage all SFPE members to renew your support for the SFPE Foundation by making a tax-deductible donation to the Foundation before the end of the year. For many years, SFPE membership invoices included a $25 suggested donation to the Foundation. A few years ago, this suggested donation was changed so that members had to “opt in” rather than “opt out.” This change has resulted in a significant decrease in member donations to the SFPE Foundation in recent years. Please help us reverse this trend by making a donation.

To make a tax-deductible contribution to the SFPE Foundation, please send your donation to the attention of the Clerk of the SFPE Foundation, 9711 Washingtonian Blvd., Suite 380, Gaithersburg, MD 20878 or donate online.

With best wishes for a happy and safe holiday season,

Fred Mowrer

Chair, Board of Governors
