Upcoming Topics and Dates Include:

Advanced Fire Dynamics Simulator, Oct. 31–Nov. 1. This seminar is a significant update of the previous version and covers advanced techniques in Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) visualization, including an introduction to PyroSim and the option of completing each module example by using FDS or PyroSim. Each module includes a lecture and workshop where the student works example problems on their personal laptop computers. Be sure to download the most recent version of FDS and Smokeview and PyroSim. Earn 14 PDHs | 1.4 CEUs

Application of Fire Risk Assessment, Oct. 31–Nov. 1. This seminar features a brief overview of the SFPE Engineering Guide to Fire Risk Assessment and an opportunity for working groups to apply the Guide to a specific project, including a historic building, high-rise residential occupancy or petroleum industry facility. Participants will also review the work of other groups to broaden their understanding of the concepts of a fire risk assessment. Earn 14 PDHs | 1.4 CEUs.

Fire Sprinkler Design for Engineers, Oct. 31–Nov. 2. Based on the 2016 editions of NFPA 13 and 20 standards, this seminar is designed to provide tools for designing fire sprinkler systems in accordance with building and fire codes and covers introductory aspects that are essential for engineers, designers and AHJs who are new to, or need a 2016 update/refresher on, sprinkler system design, classification of the hazards and commodities to be protected, water supplies, fire pumps, confirmation of the hydraulic data and preliminary hydraulic design, and preparing design documentation, along with more advanced topics. Earn 21 PDHs | 2.1 CEUs.

Principles of Fire Protection Engineering, Oct. 31-Nov. 2. This seminar presents the application of science and engineering principles to protecting people, property and their environments from harmful and destructive effects of fire and smoke. Topics include fire detection, suppression and mitigation; human behavior; and maintaining a tenable environment for evacuation during a fire scenario. Earn 21 PDHs or 2.1 CEU.
