This year marks the first year the PE Exam is moving to Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for Fire Protection. The most significant change is that examinees will now not be required, nor allowed, to bring in reference material for the exam. Instead, a supplied reference will be given to the attendees digitally. Also, the new CBT exam format will offer alternative item type questions other than multiple choice. For more information on the changes with the CBT format, you can check out NCEES Examinee Guide. The date of this year’s exam is October 20, 2020.

With the new exam format, SFPE is doing a comprehensive overhaul of our PE Exam Review Course. This course will consist of 14-weeks of live instruction starting the week of July 13th. For more information on the 14-week live prep course - click here.

Additionally, SFPE is publishing a new 5th Edition of the SFPE Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) Examination in Fire Protection Engineering Reference Manual. This manual is being printed as you’re reading this and will be shipping out first orders in early February! Buy your copy today!
