A Message from the Editor

All,

Six months into this 2020 it is now time for you to receive the second issue of the year.

While we had some difficultly getting articles finished in time etc. for the first issue, as we were caught in the middle of the initial COVID-19 crisis, for this issue we had no apparent problems and all went as smooth as always. A few months after the crisis it seems we have learned to live with this, our way of working has definitely changed but in my mind it looks like effectiveness and efficiency is back on the same levels (or even higher) as pre-COVID 19.

In this issue we have seven high-quality articles, it feels good to be able to share these ones with our readers; I am certain a lot of the information shared with you in this issue will go straight into projects and initiatives. I would really like to point out the article related to fire issue with informal settlements, something that we unfortunately have not seen the last of and that probably will need a coordinated effort (where I believe SFPE will be involved) to solve. We also have quite an interesting research article about temperature distribution in HVAC systems in case of fire; results are not that intuitive.

We also have, for the first time I should point out, a summary article from on the latest research project from the SFPE Foundation. This is a new initiative we have taken onboard, for each new research report that are being publicly released from the SFPE Foundation we will publish a summary article about the initiative and its findings, and obviously with links so you as a reader can download the full report.

I would like to wish all of you a very good summer even though I am certain it will be a very different one for most us in these strange circumstances.

If there are readers out there that feel that you have an important subject that you would like to share with the industry do not hesitate to contact us, we can make that happen.

As always, a great thanks to the people who have put in a lot of time and effort to make this issue a reality; especially to our Editorial Board members and SFPE staff.

The next issue will come in September.

Yours sincerely,

 Jimmy Jönsson, Managing Editor
