Strategic Alliances

SFPE is proud to work with many organizations that share in activities to further the mission and vision of the society.

Our Alliances include:

The Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA) is the only not-for-profit association exclusively focused on the fire alarm industry. Founded in 1953 in Chicago, Illinois by a mixed group of contractors, engineers, and manufacturers.

Established in 1989 as a nonprofit, nonpartisan policy institute, CFSI is designed to educate members of Congress about the needs and challenges of our nation’s fire and emergency services to help them understand how the federal government can support the needs of their local first responders.

FEANI, as the largest European Federation of Engineers (1951) with membership in 34 countries, representing approximately 6 million individual engineers established an Engineers Europe Advisory Group (EEAG), a co-operative consortium aimed at upgrading, promoting and harmonizing the voice of engineers in Europe.

The International Fire Safety Standards (IFSS) Coalition is a group of professional and not-for-profit organisations responsible for researching, developing, publicising and implementing IFSS globally for the construction and real-estate sectors.

NSPE was established in 1934 to realize a simple but vital goal: create an inclusive, nontechnical organization dedicated to the interests of licensed professional engineers, regardless of practice area, that would protect engineers (and the public) from unqualified practitioners, build public recognition for the profession, and stand against unethical practices and inadequate compensation.

NICET defines engineering technicians as the "hands-on" members of the engineering team who work under the direction of engineers, scientists, and technologists. They have knowledge of the components, operating characteristics, and limitations of engineering systems and processes particular to their area of specialization.

The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing professional licensure for engineers and surveyors. NCEES develops, administers, and scores the examinations used for engineering and surveying licensure in the United States. It also facilitates professional mobility and promotes uniformity of the U.S. licensure processes through services for its member licensing boards and licensees.

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is a global self-funded nonprofit organization, established in 1896, devoted to eliminating death, injury, property and economic loss due to fire, electrical and related hazards. NFPA delivers information and knowledge through more than 300 consensus codes and standards, research, training, education, outreach and advocacy; and by partnering with others who share an interest in furthering their mission. Their mission is to help save lives and reduce loss with information, knowledge and passion.

The Societies Consortium on Sexual Harassment in STEMM is a unique collective act of leadership and accountability to advance excellence in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medical fields (STEMM). This initiative is providing customizable model policies (with embedded menus of options for flexibility), policy-law guidance, and practical tools to advance professional and ethical conduct, climate and culture in societies’ own operations and STEMM fields broadly, in support of the inclusion of all talent and excellence in the fields. Through a collective effort and investment, the consortium model can develop high-quality resources that benefit from multiple perspectives and national expertise, in a time and cost-efficient manner.
