SFPE Chapter Town Hall Meeting: Important Updates to the SFPE Chapter Program

Over the past several years we’ve been listening to chapter leaders and have heard about the successes and struggles that our chapters experience. The Committee on Membership and Chapter Relations (CMC) formed a task force last year to study options to help our chapters succeed. Fortunately, SFPE is not alone in terms of the challenges facing chapters so the task force had a lot of examples and resources to consider. As a result, the new chapter program, approved by the SFPE Board of Directors, offers new options for chapters – alongside the traditional chapter model. Yes, the current chapter model remains as is, with minimal changes that include explicit allowance for local-only chapter members.

For many, the changes are quite simple and will only require signing the updated chapter agreement. The timeline is to have all chapters engaged in the new program by December 31.

Because this new structure offers new options and shifts some responsibilities, we are conducting two virtual Town Hall meetings and have set up a special online community in the SFPE Forum. The virtual Town Halls will provide you an opportunity to learn about the new structure and ask questions. The SFPE Forum provides an interactive resource where you can find all the new documents, access a FAQ (which we’ll continually update) and post questions and comments. By the way, the SFPE Forum includes the newly launched Chapter Leadership Resource Portal – have you visited that yet?

In addition to the Town Halls and online community, SFPE staff is scheduling calls with all chapters interested in talking through the changes.

RSVP to attend one of the virtual Town Halls (note: we will record and post to the Chapter Leadership Resource Portal for anyone unable to attend can listen later)

Let's continue to grow opportunities for members to connect locally!
