ITB Fire Testing Laboratory Tour in Pionki

ITB is offering a complimentary tour for the first 25 registrants that sign up. The tour is an opportunity for Fire Safety Experts to gain firsthand experience in fire testing of various building elements. This event will help understanding the fire requirements given in prescriptive codes, and allow to “touch” what does the required indexes really stand for. ITB representatives during the tour will guide participants through various methods, ranging from small “desktop” scale to some of the world’s largest furnaces, sharing their experience and observations. ITB employees are also fire engineers, researchers and practitioners in computational analysis, who can share a very unique point of view on the fire safety built on practical experience in both prescriptive and performance side of our field.

The ITB laboratory is among the biggest and most modern in the Europe, and allows to test almost any product available in the market. Laboratory is member of EGOLF organization, is accredited by Polish Centre of Accreditation and UAE Civil Defense. Among the furnaces and other equipment presented during the visit, the participants will have a chance to see our unique furnaces: large vertical furnace “Phoenix” – 10 meters wide and 7 meters high, with total power of 16 MW and triple chamber horizontal furnace “Chimera”, with total length of 11,35 m and width of 4,30 m.

During the visit, following tests will be performed:

  • external fire on a façade (ITB method);
  • 30 minute fire resistant wall with index M (hit of a solid body);
  • fire spread on a roof element - “French method T3”.

Between the tests, our experienced lecturers will give presentations on:

  • Role of Fire Testing Laboratories in modern Fire Safety, experience of ITB in this field
  • Limits and boundaries of Fire Testing
