Advanced Fire Alarm Systems Design - Session I: Applying the Principals of Performance-Based Design
Upon completion of this seminar the participants will have an understanding of the process of performance-based design and how it is applied to the design of a fire alarm system.
This two-day seminar presents a review of the process of performance-based design and applies them to the design of fire alarm systems. The seminar covers developing a stakeholder committee, distilling performance objective from stakeholder goals, reducing performance objectives to concrete performance criteria, and developing performance equivalent alternative designs. Fire Dynamics and the roll of fire modeling in the design process and design documentation are also addressed.
Attendees should bring with them their own copies of NFPA 101-2006, Life Safety Code, NFPA 72-2007, National Fire Alarm Code, and scientific calculator.
Successful completion of the NFPA Fire Alarm Code Seminar or equivalent knowledge is considered a prerequisite for this course.
