Expand your knowledge of fire alarm systems
Get advanced system design insight that builds on your NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm & Signaling Code, knowledge. This 2-day seminar details the process of performance-based design and how it is applied to the design of a fire alarm system.
Review the process of performance-based design and apply it to the design of fire alarm systems. Develop a stakeholder committee, distill performance objectives from stakeholder goals, reduce performance objectives to concrete performance criteria, and apply performance equivalent alternative designs. The use of fire dynamics and the role of fire modeling in the design process and design documentation are also addressed.
Before attending this seminar, participants must have a good working knowledge of NFPA 72. A scientific calculator is also required.
Upon completion you should be able to:
- Examine the process of performance-based design for fire protection systems
- Develop fire protection goal leading to design criteria and performance criteria
- Employ the process of performance-based design to design a fire alarm system that will meet the user's goals and objectives
- Discuss and explain the developmetn of a design, facilitating review, installation management, testing and system turn-over
Who will benefit? Anyone whose job involves designing, reviewing, evaluating or installing fire alarm systems, including: designers, installers, engineers, electrical contractors, technicians, project managers, fire marshals, and architects.
