SFPE To Create Standard on Design Fire Scenarios
The SFPE Board of Directors has approved a new standards development project on design fire scenarios to be used in performance-based design for a variety of occupancies and situations. It is anticipated that this standard will be in a form that can be referenced by regulatory bodies. The standard would be more detailed that the scenarios in NFPA 101 & NFPA 5000, would be more occupancy specific and would address objectives other than life safety. The committee will likely make use of relevant work currently in process in New Zealand.
