Design Performance Criteria

Mission

The Design Criteria Task Group will develop engineering guidance on the selection of performance criteria relating to hazard impacts. This guidance will likely include factors to consider and summaries of information from the literature. The task group will address both life safety issues and non-life safety issues.

Current Activity

The task group is developing an engineering guide on developing performance criteria. The guide will summarize information from the literature on typical pass/fail exposure thresholds in eight areas: toxicity, visibility, thermal effects to humans, thermal effects to property, flame spread, smoke damage, structural integrity and damage to exposed properties.
