The last issue of the year!
This year we have been able to have a number of high-quality articles lined up for every issue. The procedures implemented during 2017 did bear fruit. For the upcoming year we will incorporate a few extra sources of articles to further increase the number of articles per issue.
In this last issue you will find very interesting articles and as always they have a direct implication on our day to day work as professionals within the fire safety industry. You can see that a few articles are directly related to new technologies and very interestingly some are developed due to sustainability objectives. Sustainability objectives have an increasing impact on our design solutions, and this will only continue to grow, sustainability objectives have forced the construction industry to developed new products and implement the use of alternative energy systems into the building design. However, it is not at all clear how sustainability has affected the fire safety levels in buildings, we simply don’t have enough data to get the whole picture yet. What is clear though is that sustainability has an impact on fire safety; we are starting to see an increase in different types of fires that didn’t really existed if we go back 15-20 years in time, and we don’t really know how the use of new technologies are affecting the fire safety levels of occupants. I really hope to see more articles regarding fire safety and sustainability in next year’s issues.
I would like to invite and promote the upcoming SFPE Europe conference, only five months away now and we hope to see you there. The conference will be held in Malaga, Spain and I can assure you that there are a lot of very interesting articles to be presented and activities to be held.
If there are readers out there that feel that you have an important subject that you would like to share with the industry do not hesitate to contact us, we can make that happen.
