A Message from the Editor

All,

The last issue of the year!

Another successful year for the SFPE Europe Magazine. I am slight biased but in my mind we have been able to publish an extraordinary number of high-quality articles this year. I am certain that we will keep up both the numbers of articles and the high quality for 2020.

I will keep it short for this final Editors column of the year and I only want to specifically highlight one of the articles in this issue.

Our first article for this issue is about one of the best kept secrets of SFPE, namely the SFPE Foundation. It’s been 40 years since the SFPE established the Educational and Scientific Foundation, which now is undergoing a revitalization with the aim to sustainably support the fire protection engineering profession and the society through robustly funded research and enhanced student engagement.

The SFPE Foundation is being aligned to meet the demands of the SFPE’s mission and the profession’s overall needs. I am very much looking forward to seeing the SFPE Foundation embarking on this new strategic direction that will advance and evolve the field of fire protection engineering. I sincerely hope that our best kept secret soon will be a worldwide known source of knowledge sharing and research.

I would also like to promote the upcoming SFPE conference of Heritage Protection that will take place in Rome in June, less than six months away now. I can assure you that there are a lot of very interesting presentations and activities to be held. I really hope to see you in Rome in June 2020.

If there are readers out there that feel that you have an important subject that you would like to share with the industry do not hesitate to contact us, we can make that happen.

As always, a great thanks to the people who have put in a lot of time and effort to make this issue a reality.

The next issue will come in March.

Finally I would like to wish all our readers a Merry Christmas & Happy new year!

Yours sincerely,

 Jimmy Jönsson, Managing Editor
