The SFPE Foundation Board of Governors invites applications from experienced, senior fire engineering professionals to join the board in 2025.
Complete applications are due by 11:59 pm Eastern Time on Friday, January 31, 2025.
Please note the following:

- Board positions are unpaid, voluntary positions.
- Board positions usually last for a three-year cycle. Governors can hold up to two consecutive three-year terms if their term is renewed by a vote of the other governors. For additional information, please review the Bylaws found on our website.
- Terms run from May 1 to April 30. Any new Governors selected to join the Board will have terms beginning May 1, 2025.
- The Board meets about five times per year, usually in February, May, September (twice), and November.
- Every Governor also serves on at least one of the Foundation's Committees, as appointed by the Executive Committee. These committees meet as needed to conduct their work, anywhere from 2-8 times per year, depending on the committee: the Fundraising Committee, the Technical Committee, the Awards Committee, and the Finance Committee.
- Currently, all meetings of the Foundation's Board and its Committees are held virtually to accommodate participation from Governors based around the world.
- We expect to notify applicants of their status -- whether selected or not -- by the end of March 2025.
We only have a few vacancies to fill each cycle, and decisions are made according to the needs of the organization and in alignment with the Foundation's mission and strategic goals. If you are not selected for this cycle, we encourage you to apply again in future years.
