SFPE and SFPE Foundation's Academic Leadership Council (ALC) is made up of fire protection and fire safety engineering and engineering technology programs around the world. The ALC fosters communication between the Society, the Foundation, and the universities that educate our next generations of fire protection engineering professionals. It also serves to facilitate the sharing of information amongst the global academic community and provide an opportunity for collaboration and partnerships on larger and broader initiatives.
The initial goals for the Council include:
- Collaborate to raise awareness of the fire protection engineering discipline.
- Create a bridge between industry, including government agencies, and universities for awareness of programs, projects, industry needs, and university needs.
- Increase communication to ensure students and faculty are aware of awards, scholarships, research grants, student opportunities, poster sessions, and other opportunities with both the Society and the SFPE Foundation.
- Aide in mapping the global research being conducted with SFPE’s Research Roadmap as well as identifying gaps and opportunities for collaboration and funding between universities and SFPE and SFPE Foundation.
