Become a GCI Partner

We seek industry, academic, government, non-profit, and other partners to invest in the Grand Challenges Initiative, a multi-year research and educational collaboration, to help define the future of fire engineering. Together, we’ll benefit from peer-to-peer learning and collaboration that will leverage our collective knowledge and strengths, propelling us forward in a more efficient, expedient way than any of us could manage alone.

Join us as a Grand Challenge Initiative (GCI) Partner!

GCI Partners benefit from:

  • Public acknowledgment of their status as a GCI Partner on the SFPE Foundation website and in marketing materials related to the initiative.
  • Priority early access to participate in funding research projects emerging from the GCI priority topic areas (see the GCI white papers for examples), as well as opportunities to serve on research project Advisory Panels that help shape the direction of research on these topics globally.
  • Priority early access to serve on Program Committees or similar bodies for planning and organizing GCI Summits and related events where applicable.
  • Priority in terms of opportunities to present or moderate at GCI Summits and/or related events, creating a thought leadership platform for your organization in key GCI topic areas.
  • Priority in terms of opportunities to serve on the GCI Working Groups that continue to evolve the research and educational priorities articulated in the 2023 GCI white papers.
  • Early access to unpublished research and educational opportunities for use in your planning and programming.

We recognize that different entities will be able to contribute in different ways (see below for opportunities for academics and government agencies). To that end, we’ve developed the following options for joining the SFPE Foundation Grand Challenges Initiative as a GCI Partner:
