The SFPE 2024 Engineering Solutions Symposium Progress with Li-Ion Battery Fire Safety: Engineering Solutions to Mobility and Storage Hazards.
Join us for a technical engineering symposium dedicated to the critical topic of current progress in fire safety in Li-ion batteries. As the world shifts toward renewable energy sources, the demand for energy storage solutions like lithium-ion batteries has skyrocketed. Lithium-ion batteries have become ubiquitous in our daily lives, powering everything from smartphones to electric vehicles. With the increased adoption comes the need to address and mitigate potential fire hazards associated with these technologies. Understanding the nuances of energy storage operation and the associated risks is crucial for fire safety professionals. For these reasons and others, this topic was identified by members of the SFPE Foundation’s Grand Challenges Initiative (GCI) as a top priority for investment in research and education over the next 10 years, as outlined in the Grand Challenges in Energy & Infrastructure white paper.
The 3-day SFPE Engineering Solutions Symposium brings together fire safety experts, engineers, researchers, and industry leaders to discuss and explore innovative approaches and best practices for ensuring the safety of these systems. Learn about innovative engineering solutions for bulk storage of battery products, electric and micro mobility vehicles hazards, risk assessment techniques, and best practices in ESS design and implementation, and stay informed about the latest regulations shaping the energy storage landscape. With support from the Grand Challenges Initiative, attendees will also have the opportunity to weigh-in on future research, education, and outreach opportunities in this space.
This dynamic event offers a unique platform for knowledge sharing, networking, and collaboration. The Day 1 program on Tuesday will focus on the fundamentals of thermal runaway and hazards in the morning and codes and Standards in the afternoon. A separate registration is available for those who want only to attend Days 2 and 3.
