SFPE is currently seeking applicants to serve in the following leadership positions on its Board of Directors beginning in January 2025, as well as its 2025 Nominating Committee.

Qualifications of Board Members
SFPE Members serving on the Board of Directors, and candidates for the Board, will meet the following general qualifications:
- SFPE membership grade status of Professional Member or Fellow.
- Demonstrated leadership commitment and involvement with SFPE and the profession.
- Commitment to take part in meetings, including up to three face-to-face meetings with at least one outside of the U.S. and several online meetings per year. 2024 face-to-face meetings are expected to be January 25-26 in Washington DC, April 15-16 in Copenhagen, and October 5-6 in Louisville. Board members have the right to a travel stipend of USD 500 and USD 1200 (depending upon the required hours of flight) to attend Board of Directors’ meetings.
- No more than one Board member may be employed by the same company or organization, or subsidiary thereof, at any time, with the exception that a sitting Board member may remain even if their employment changes or their company, organization, or subsidiary is merged or acquired by another while they are in office, such that they become an employee of the same company, organization, or subsidiary as another Board member.
- Applicants for President-Elect should have 3 years available to serve without exceeding the 10-year limit of total board service and must be a current board member or have served on the board within the last two years.
- Applicants for Secretary-Treasurer are required to be a current board member and have served at least one year on the Finance & Audit Committee.
- The Board of Directors cannot be composed of more than two members from the Foundation's Board of Governors.
- A Board member may be a nominee for an Officer position at any time during their term.
- A Board member who is not successful in seeking an Officer position does not thereby lose their current Director position.
- SFPE committee chairs may run for a Board position at any time during their term.
Qualifications for Nominating Committee Members
- SFPE membership grade status of Professional Member or Fellow.
- Demonstrated commitment to and involvement with the Society. Examples include Fellows, Past Presidents, Past Committee Chairs, tenure on Standing Committees.
- Sufficient experience and skill to competently evaluate new Board candidates consistent with the qualifications established by the Board and expressed in the Standing Rules
- A keen understanding of SFPE’s vision, objectives, and strategic initiatives.
- Knowledge and awareness of SFPE members that could be recruited as nominees for the Board.
- Commitment to participate in committee meetings, including up to one face-to-face meeting, and several virtual meetings per year. Terms of Service are for one year and begin on January 1.
- Ability to work collaboratively and engage in appropriate debate and discussion as needed
Application Submittal Details
Individuals interested in serving on the Board of Directors must complete and submit the Board of Directors Application Form with a color headshot photo to be included on the ballot if selected as a candidate.
Individuals interested in serving on the Nominating Committee must complete and submit the Nominating Committee Application Form with a color headshot photo to be included on the ballot if selected as a candidate.
All applications must be submitted by May 31, 2024, to Bryan Bennett, SFPE Executive Office Administrator, at bbennett@sfpe.org. All questions should be directed to Bryan. Applications will be sent to the 2023 Nominating Committee for review and interviews. The Nominating Committee’s selections will be put on the ballot this fall.
