In 2018, SFPE will be excited to have students, academics, corporations, and research industry groups to present research poster sessions in the Expo area of the 2018 SFPE Annual Conference & Expo on Gaining Ground in Global Fire Protection Engineering will being held October 27- November 2, 2018 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Poster submissions must be emailed to Kendall Talbert, email@example.com by July 31, 2018. All posters submitted will be reviewed and evaluated for scholarly and relevant content and reviewed by the Conference Program Committee. Acceptance notifications will be made by email no later than August 13, 2018.
Author Attendance Requirement
By submitting a poster, poster authors are agreeing that at least one author will attend the meeting and will be available to present during the designated times which will coincide with hours when the Expo is open. Authors will be notified when their poster has been accepted. Notification will include designated presentation times. They will be expected to make appropriate travel arrangements to ensure that at least one of the poster’s authors will be in attendance. In addition, presenting authors are expected to register to attend the conference.
Posters should be readable by viewers three feet away. It is recommended to use large print and shade or color block letters when possible. A minimum font size of 28 point and a maximum of 600 words are also recommended. The message should be clear and understandable without oral explanation.
The poster-board surface area is 36 inches high and 24 inches wide. Prepare a 3-inch high headline strip that runs the full width of the poster. Include the title, author(s) and affiliations on the strip in letters not less than 1-inch high. Post a large-typed copy of your abstract summary in the upper left-hand corner.
The following guidelines will help improve the effectiveness of your poster communication:
The figures and tables should cover slightly more than 50% of the poster area. If you have only a few illustrations, make them large. Do not omit the text, but keep it brief. The poster should be understandable without oral explanation.
Avoid abbreviations, acronyms and jargon. Use a consistent font throughout.
Rules and Regulations
- Presenters must be listed as the first author(s) on the paper at the time of submission.
- The presenting author(s) must be the one to make the submission.
- Presenting/first author must register for the conference by September 14, 2018.
Please submit your poster information to Kendall Talbert, firstname.lastname@example.org. The final poster presentation image should be in PDF format when submitting for printing. Please send your graphic no later than September 7, 2018 and be sure to pay the $100 printing fee.
A $100 (USD) non-refundable fee will be charged per poster application. This fee includes the printing and delivery of the poster to the SFPE Annual Conference & Expo. This fee does NOT include the conference registration fee, which will also be required for presenting author(s). Payment is due at the time of submission.
