All,

The final issue of the year, it has been a very successful year for us with a lot of good articles and useful information for all of you out there.

I assume all of you are finishing off your projects and that there is little time for reading articles at this time of the year. However, if you find yourself with some spare time try to read the articles, I can assure you that you will find them interesting. In this issue there is a wide range of different articles, everything from cost benefit analysis to fire smell in virtual environments, all of them will give you privileged information regarding the different topics.

I would especially recommend article 3 which give you a bit of background to up and coming fire safety researcher in developing countries. It feels really good that fire safety is advancing globally and especially in developing countries as well.

I would also like to promote the upcoming SFPE European Conference & Expo on Fire Safety Engineering that is being planned for March in Berlin, just a few months away now. I can assure you that there are a number of interesting presentations to be held. I really hope to see you all for the event.

I will keep it short for this final Editors column of the year and I just wanted to say I hope you will like these “holiday gifts” from SFPE to you. Hopefully they will be read a few times and used in real life projects.  So please dig in and start reading.

If there are readers out there that feel that you have an important subject that you would like to share with the industry do not hesitate to contact us, we can make that happen.

As always, a great thanks to the people who have put in a lot of time and effort to make this issue a reality.

The next issue will come in March.

Finally, I really hope all of you enjoyed the holiday break.

Yours sincerely,
