The SFPE Foundation Appoints Corey Kinsman to its Board of Governors
May 14, 2026: GAITHERSBURG, Maryland – The SFPE Foundation, a charitable non-profit organization focused on enhancing the scientific understanding of fire and its interaction with the social, natural, and built environments, announces the appointment of one new member to its Board of Governors.
The new Governor, whose term took effect May 1, is:
Corey Kinsman, P.E., is a Senior Fire Protection Engineer with Summit Fire Consulting. He has more than 20 years of experience providing fire protection engineering and code consulting services for battery manufacturing, hazardous materials facilities, commercial nuclear power plants, government research laboratories, warehouse and storage facilities, and complex commercial and industrial projects.
Corey is an active member of SFPE, including serving as Vice President of the SFPE Middle Tennessee Chapter and participating in the SFPE Foundation Grand Challenges Initiative working groups for Digitalization, Artificial Intelligence, and Cybersecurity, as well as Energy and Infrastructure. He is also involved with ICC and NFPA activities and is passionate about advancing the fire protection engineering profession through education, research, collaboration, and the practical application of emerging technologies.
Newly appointed Governor Corey Kinsman shared, “I’m honored to join the SFPE Foundation Board of Governors and support its mission to advance fire science, strengthen education, and elevate the practice of fire protection engineering. I’m especially excited to help connect industry needs with meaningful research, outreach, and initiatives that prepare our profession for the challenges ahead.”
